2021 could turn out to be the year of the electric motorcycle boom in India.

Here are the major electric motorcycles expected to be launched in India in 2021.

BattRE Electric bike

Jaipur-based BattRE Electric Mobility confirmed to EVW last year that it will launch a new electric bike in India in 2021. They revealed ithat a high-speed motorcycle is in the works. The company has developed a prototype and plans to heavily localize it. It planned to start using these Made-in-India core parts in the prototype in November or December last year. The founder said that the BattRE electric bike will be very powerful and suitable for a daily commute.
BattRE is expected to launch in mid 2021 with an expected ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.2lakhs

PureEV ETRYST 350 ‘Sport’ Bike

IIT Hyderabad incubated startup PURENERGY (PureEV) plans to launch a new electric bike equivalent to an entry-level Bajaj Pulsar in size – the Etryst 350. The Etryst 350 would have a 3.5 kWh battery pack that provides a range of 120 km and be priced economically compared to petrol bikes with similar pickup and power. The battery pack, designed in-house, would carry a five-year warranty. There’s no word on the power output of the motor, but reports say that the top speed is 85 km/h. This is expected to launch in Aug 2021 at Rs.1.5 lakhs.

PureEV ‘Economy’ Bike

The second electric motorcycle from Pure EV is expected with a focus on economy. Aimed at commuters looking to switch to electric vehicles, this new electric bike would carry an in-house design for its chassis and other components.
This is expected to launch towards Aug 2021 at Rs.95,000

Evolet Hawk

Not many details are known about the Hawk yet however it is expected to have a restricted top speed of 85 km/h or below and a healthy range of about 150 km. It’ll get disc brakes at both ends with a combined braking system. It will likely come with 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with MRF rubber on them. The instrument console will be fully-digital connectivity features using the Evolet app for vital statistics of the bike. Expect a price tag between Rs 1.3 lakh to 1.5 lakh

Tork T6X

T6X electric motorcycle is powered by a lithium-ion battery that claims a range of about 100 km per charge and the bike can do a top speed of up to 100 km/h. The battery can be charged up to 80% in one hour. Tork Motors has also equipped the T6X with its TIROS (Tork Intuitive Response Operating System). Apart from analysis and compilation of data for every ride, power management, real-time power consumption, and range forecasts, TIROS also collects data on how it is ridden. Expect a price tag of about Rs 1.4 lakh.

Orxa Mantis

The Orxa Mantis can hit a top speed of 140 km/h and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in eight seconds. The batteries are swappable and can be charged completely in three to four hours. Given the premium specs, expect a premium price tag as well. The Mantis gets high-performance tyres, aero aluminium alloy wheels, 41 mm telescopic forks in the front and a mono-shock rear suspension.
